Dear Members,
I would like to welcome all current, former, and new members of Moriches Yacht Club to the 2009 year. We have an exciting year planned with many social events on the calendar. We are hosting a major Sunfish Regatta on August 8 and 9, in addition to our regular summer series and cup races. Swimming and sailing lessons will start the last week of June on the 29th. The duck barbecue returns to the last weekend in July.
The Moriches Yacht Club is currently in good financial shape and has not followed the flow of the economy. Our debt from a loan taken in 2004 will be completely paid by this spring. Membership was at a record high of 129 family memberships. The annual audit of the books has been completed. The calendar and the 2009 budget have been approved.
Committee chairpersons have been working on their priority lists and waiting to see the response to this year’s membership. We are hoping for a continued increase in membership so that we can do a few more projects on our wish lists beyond the approved budget. One of our biggest assets is the ability of our members to donate their time for special projects on the grounds, house and marina. We need some major repairs and maintenance on all three areas. I want to thank the membership and board members for your past and future efforts.
